If you must have a Zeiss there are plans to release a new 12mm (18mm equivalent angle) for X mount cameras - but no firm dates yet.

Will probably cost less than the Zeiss would too. The upcoming 14mm from Fuji - which gives similar 21mm angle of view (due to APS 'crop') is forthcoming in a few months. If it is the wider 21mm angle you were after then there are two forthcoming options: The older 21mm Zeiss would have given an equivalent (to the 35mm format it was designed for) of about 30mm angle of view due to the APS 1.5x crop factor - if you are looking for this focal length then the current Fuji 18mm (fixed focal length) or their 18-55mm zoom will offer similar view angles (the zoom offers even more of course) By the way: do you know which X-mount lens has / would have similar characteristics? I guess I will then wait for a similar wideangle lens with X-mount. Still, I liked it because it delivers wideangle pictures without distorting them too much with fisheye effect. Of course, I agree that if its performance on the X-Pro1 is poor it doesn't make sense to buy it. This lens is quite expensive, but at least with the adapter I could have used it on both cameras. Similar quality to Zeiss, Fuji AF lenses - but for far less money - seem a far better/rational purchase.

The Zeiss 21mm plan seems odd, as it becomes a ho-hum focal length on APS - which together with it's rarity - could see you butchering a relatively rare lens (if modification is needed) for minimal gain. Most seem to report poor edge performance with Zeiss optics.

By the accounts of those who've tried, the Zeiss lenses don't seem to offer much improvement on X series and similar APS cameras. Do you know which Contax G prime lenses are for sure compatible with the Fuji X-Pro1 without modifying their back? Still, I have read on a badly translated japanese website that some of these lenses need a cut of the plastic support placed on their back to fit. Therefore, I am also planning to buy the Zeiss Biogon 21mm lens. I have a Fuji X-Pro1 and a Contax G2 with 45mm and 90mm lenses, and I was thinking to share the lenses between the two cameras via the Kipon adapter.
